These chair mats for carpeted floors use a superior anchoring system - instead of sharp, cone-shaped grippers, these floormats boast flattened anchor bars (essentially, oblong nubs that are multi-directional). This superior anchoring system helps to keep the chair mats in place on carpet while not damaging hands or the carpeted floor/rug below.
Our chair mats are manufactured here in the US and we use American-sourced raw materials for their production.
Certainly! We are able to produce a custom chair mat in virtually any size and any shape imaginable. For anything more complicated than a rectangle with custom dimensions we'll provide an approval drawing for your review and acceptance before starting production. Once approved, custom chairmats take just a few days to manufacture before shipping out. You can check them out here: https://www.americanfloormats.com/custom-chair-mats-for-carpet/
The entire outside edge of the chair mat has a bevel (ie, a slope) where the full thickness of the mat tapers down to provide a smooth, gradual transition between the carpet and the mat. The lip, on the other hand, is the protrusion or tongue that sticks out from the base area of the mat and fits under the desk. For desks that have a smaller opening (perhaps due to drawers on both sides) and in which the full width of the mat wouldn't fit, a chair mat with a lip allows for additional floor coverage when the chair is scooted all the way in.
Yes! All desk chair mats for carpeted floors have a sloped (beveled) edge around the entire perimeter of the mat so that if you were to roll off the mat, you can easily and seamlessly roll right back on. The slope provides a gradual transition on and off the mat.
Great question! For most orders, these mats are factory-heated, rolled up and conveniently packaged for shipment via UPS Ground. For large quantity orders, the chair mats may be stacked flat on a wooden pallet, securely covered and shipped on an 18-wheeler freight truck. For convenience, we try to ship via UPS whenever possible to make it easiest for the customer. Once received, the mat can be removed from the box, the packaging discarded and the mat can then be unrolled. In colder climates and for the thickest of mats it's helpful to allow the chair mat to acclimate to the warmer room temperature before unrolling. The chair mat's natural state is flat; once unrolled, it will stay flat and not have any tendency to curl up.
Our clear Chair Mats for Carpeted Surfaces are made of a premium, commercial-grade vinyl/PVC. This proprietary PVC formula is designed to be safe for use in both homes (around kids and pets) as well as in businesses, have flexibility but also rigidity, is UL-Certified Greenguard Gold and, most importantly, is formulated to meet the strictest standards for health, safety and durability. These chair mats are manufactured here in the US for American-sourced raw components.
Great question! Polycarbonate has a few benefits but has been phased out over the years for stronger, longer-lasting and safer desk chair mat alternatives. Polycarbonate was well regarded as a chairmat due to its clarity and rigidity, which is great when the mat is brand new. However, polycarbonate has two fatal flaws. First, it scratches easily and, once scratched, the damage really can't be undone and it becomes an eyesore. Second, and most importantly, Polycarbonate chair mats are rigid, which is good for lighter individuals and less frequent use. However, the flip side to rigidity is that it can crack much more easily since it doesn't possess the flexibility of today's proprietary compounds and thus the mats don't last nearly as long.
